What I ate today ~Chilli Pan Mee~

Hi, R is here!

Today, I tried a new Malaysian cuisine called “Chilli Pan Mee” for lunch. It sounds so spicy, so I was a bit scared about it before I ate it. It was my lunch today. I’d like to talk about the dish, and let me review today’s lunch!

What is Chilli Pan Mee?

First, Chilli Pan Mee is a popular Malaysian dish that originated in Kuala Lumpur. It’s a type of dry noodle dish that features flat wheat noodles, typically served with a spicy and flavorful minced meat sauce, crispy anchovies, a poached egg, and various condiments. I have never tried this noodle dish before, so I was really excited before I tried.

Where I tried?

I tried this meal at a restaurant called “Super Kitchen Chilli Pan Mee,” which is a popular chain store in Malaysia. My Malaysian friend told me that I should try this dish in this restaurant, so I went there with her. One bowl was RM12.50, which is an OK price in Malaysia for a lunch, but it was RM8 three or four years ago. My friend told me that as Malaysia is developing rapidly, the cost of living is also increasing quite fast. But it is not a bad thing, actually. Just enjoy the dish!

ITADAKIMASU!

First, the soup was served. It looked clear and contained a bit of egg and leaf. I didn’t know what the leaves were, but the taste was just literary leaves. After waiting around 10 minutes, finally our Chilli Pan Mee came to us!! WoWWW! The poached egg looks so nice, and I added a lot of chilli to train my spicy tolerance. My friend added more than me, but she is Malaysian, so maybe the tolerance level is different from mine… Finally, after thoroughly mixing, you can eat! If you are not good at spicy foods, it is okay to eat without adding any chilli. My Malaysian friends always tell me there are no strict rules in Malaysia. I can just do whatever I want. I like the style, actually!

How was it?

Once I put the noodle in my mouth, I realised how flavorful it was. The flavour of fried onions, chilli oils, eggs, and fried anchovies… A lot of flavours are combined really well! I was really surprised at how tasty it was, and the texture of the noodles was just my type!

I couldn’t stop eating it, even though it was a bit too spicy for me. I finished eating without drinking any water.

I would like to give 9.3/10 for this chilli pan mee!

I really liked the meal, and I will definitely try it again! I am a fan of it.

I realised Malaysia has uncountable amazing dishes again, and I love trying new food! What should I try next? Thanks for reading my blog! See you soon!
