Let’s try Hot Pot in Malaysia

Hello, R is here! Have you ever tried the hottest food in Malaysia? YES, it is Hot Pot! Hot Pot is one of my favourite dish in Malaysia! Let me show you about Hot Pot in this blog!

What is Hot Pot?

Hot pot is a popular Chinese cooking method, where a simmering pot of broth is placed at the center of the dining table. Diners then place a variety of raw ingredients, such as thinly sliced meats, seafood, vegetables, and noodles, into the pot to cook. Once the ingredients are cooked, they are dipped in a sauce and eaten. Hot pot is known for its communal dining experience, where friends and family gather around the pot to cook and enjoy the meal together. Actually, there are many kinds of Hot pot in Malaysia, but I’d like to focus on Chinese style today.

What makes it special?

In my case, the reason why I really like hot pot is the flavour of Mala soup. Mala soup is a popular Chinese spicy and numbing soup, commonly associated with Sichuan cuisine. It is known for its rich mixture of spices and seasonings, such as Sichuan peppercorn, dried chilli paste, and various other ingredients that create a distinctive and flavorful broth. I have no idea how the amazing flavor is made, but once I start eating it, I cannot stop it! It is so good taste and I love it!!

Shu DaXia Hot Pot

In this time, I tried Hot pot in Shu DaXia hot pot. It is well-known chain hot pot restaurant in China. It is located near from my house, and the appearance of the store is so cool.  I wanted to try this restaurant for a long time, but there was no chance. However, just yesterday I got a chance to try it!! Let’s see it is worth or not. This time, I ordered Mala and tomato soup base, (RM48). The taste of them were nice. Especially, I liked the tomato soup since it was flavorful, but not too sweet or too strong flavour. Mala soup was not that spicy since I ordered less spicy one. I think I should order normal spicy one next time. For ingredients, I ordered, lotus root, Enoki mushroom, pork shoulder, and beef & pork belly platter. The price was RM240 including other things I ordered. It was kinda expensive, so was it worth?? In my opinion, it was not since the meat were not tender, especially I didn’t like the beef. I am strict for beef since I eat wagyu in Japan normally.

Overall, I would give 7.9 out of 10 to this meal.

The big reason of this point was the price. I think it was too expensive for the quality.

Conclusion

As conclusion, I think the best way to eat hot pot is buying ingredients and hot pot base from grocery stores, and just cook by yourselves. It is the most affordable way to enjoy the same quality of dish. There are a lot of Mala soup base available in Malaysia. My recommendation is Hai Dilao soup base! I will review about it soon! Wait for a while!

Thanks for coming and reading  my page!! I hope to see you guys next time! Bye~
